- Our Story starts with Norman Earnshaw, who provided a community greengrocer based in the picturesque village of Horbury, for over 60 years & had for many generations been at the heart of the local community. Many deliveries later, Norman retired & Cllr Simon Fishwick bought the business & rebranded to The Green Berry.
His passion was creating a one stop destination 'bricks n mortar' store for the community, whilst bringing the business online to a much wider audience, where he could now bring the best of the fresh produce, dairy, artisan bread, desserts, drinks and exciting new products to a completely new audience, that would be able to enjoy the benefits of 70 years providence in the industry.
Simon decided to deliver to both his existing & new customers what they needed, with No Minimum Order, & with orders being placed online until 10pm, ready to be delivered "Free of charge" the next day. As far as were aware no one else in the industry offers this service.
Throughout the Pandemic this service provided a lifeline to many within the community & continues today! The business has gone from strength to strength and it's fair to say that it has had a huge impact on the community.
The Green Berry offers over 1,000 products supporting local independent farmers, artisan businesses, master bakers & other high quality purveyors of exceptional products as many as possible sourced from Yorkshire. We constantly strive to deliver the best possible food, always capturing the changes in seasonality, and extra special offers that only 70 years in the industry allow.
It's fair to say 'The Green Berry' philosophy is an adaptation of old values;
Our Customers always come first, & our values are focused on customer satisfaction & exceptional customer service. It's our passion, so nothing is ever too much trouble. Were are very aware that what we do has an impact on the environment, so we keep our carbon emissions, use of plastic and food miles to a minimum.
Our Community Work:
At The Green Berry, we try and do as much as we can for the community. Whether thats fundraising, delivering to food banks or donating food to local charities.
