Unhappiness, stress and worry can affect all aspects of our lives, including our health, moods and sleep. Relationships and work can suffer, leading us to feel isolated and out of control.
It may be hard to talk to friends and family about these feelings and the strain of trying to cope and be strong can be exhausting. Therapy offers a time away from daily life to reflect and to gain the perspective you need to re-establish a sense of balance. Time talking confidentially in a supportive, encouraging environment with someone who is patient and caring and does not judge or criticise could be a great relief.
I can help you understand your reactions and feelings about past traumas or current events and learn to know yourself and notice how thinking patterns, attitudes and beliefs about yourself, other people or the world around you may be preventing you from getting what you want from life. Increased self awareness will allow you to see your choices and options more clearly and feel less overwhelmed by your emotions.
I won’t tell you what to do, but we will talk things through, discussing and working together to find answers that suit you. You may prefer practical problem solving and learning coping strategies that you can use yourself to help you gain control of your life, or we can simply talk and reflect . I work integratively and holistically incorporating CBT, Psychodynamic thinking, Person Centred principles, mindfulness, relaxation. If appropriate we can also discuss self help, health and lifestyle.
